Free Legal Help - Employment Law
Our Legal Lifeline is one of the most widely used and popular membership benefits. It provides peace of mind, advising on any employment law problems affecting members' business life. This service, provided by Croner, is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and gives an immediate and personal service that provides practical advice as and when required.
All salons must be registered with the NHF to qualify for the Legal Expenses Insurance.
Before obtaining legal advice you must have your membership number and your current scheme number to hand before the legal help line are able to give you advice.
Please ensure you have written your membership number on the reverse of your membership card.

Representation Services
The policy carries an excess payment of £750.00 for each and every claim accepted by Croner. Payment of the excess is the responsibility of the member and should be paid in full directly to Croner.
Croner provides a representation service to defend an action brought by an employee or ex-employee up to a maximum of £50,000. This service is provided through the Legal Lifeline with the insurance underwritten by DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited. Croner meets the full legal costs and expenses in excess of the first £750.00. Cover is only operative where advice has been obtained through the Legal Lifeline, full details of exclusions to the policy can be obtained through Head Office on request. The Federation undertakes no liability for any awards made against members.

Restrictive Covenants
For Restrictive Covenants the legal costs and expenses in excess of the first £750.00 and up to a maximum of £50,000 may also be covered providing the employee is on a NHF Contract of Employment. A reasonable covenant is normally deemed not to exceed a 1/2 mile radius of the employee's place of work and should not cover a period of more than six months.

Supporting You in Tax Matters
The Legal Lifeline and insurance service offers confidential advice on tax and VAT matters from Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm. It provides for payment of up to £50,000 per case for accountancy and legal fees incurred from all tax and VAT investigations as well as PAYE assessments and P11D compliance investigations. Claims must be lodged within six months of the insurable event occurring. All tax and VAT claims are subject to a £750 excess fee. Full details of cover and exclusions are availible from Head Office on request.

Legal Templates
Deeds of apprenticeship and employment contracts are provided free of charge on request with guidance notes on their completion.
Business names certificates, leaflets giving guidance on the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and Fact Sheets on a range of legal issues relevant to the salon owner are free on request.
