Meet this years winner Evangeline Barrett of the Christofer Mann ‘Step Up & Shine’ Scholarship in association with National Hairdressers’ Federation.

First steps for Evangeline

On Wednesday 11th May her journey started as she joined her mentor Debbie Currie to start putting her bespoke education package into action. Evangeline was able to communicate the skills and expertise she would like to aquire through this incredible opportunity.

Project Leader Debbie G provides the support that Evangeline will need to ensure she gets the most out of her £2,500 bespoke educational package. She will be able to tailor the courses to what she feels will benefit Evangleine the most in her career.

Throughout the two hours spent with Debbie they discussed ideas and started to plan her diary of events - looks like it's going to be an exciting year ahead!

Step Up & Shine at Salon International

During the Salon International event Mentor Debbie G was joined on stage by Edward Hemmings as they asked Evangeline to share with the audience her experience and how she came to be selected as the winner. Not only that but the crowds were treated to a beautiful model catwalk that showcased all the skills and expertise that Evangeline has already learnt from her incredible mentors, including Chris Foster, Bruno Marc and Michelle Griffin.

Evangeline Barrett, from BLONDZ Hair in Weymouth, said "Since April's President Night I have been on cloud 9 as I have experienced some amazing courses and met some incredible industry experts who have taken the time to help me grow as a hairdresser. The best part is the education is tailored to me completely and Debbie G has been amazing in helping me choose what is right for me. I have already been on a once in a lifetime photo shoot with Marc Antoni; learnt fundamentals with Debbie G and I even got qualified in hair extensions with Michelle Griffin. That isn't even everything. I cannot wait for the rest of my experience and I definitely encourage everyone to enter. This really has been the most amazing opportunity!"

Evangeline's scholarship has opened up many opportunities and experiences and this doesn't seem to be slowing down as she has now made it through to the Fellowship for British Hairdressing 'ClubStar Art Team 2017!'.
