The NHBF unveiled its brand new sister trade association, the NHBF today.

The NHBF has been going since 1942.  As a long-established and well-respected trade association, the NHBF has always provided business support for hair salons, barbershops and beauty salons, especially as so many NHBF members run both hair and beauty salons.

The new NHBF clearly shows that high quality, specialist support is available to beauty salons too

Chief executive Hilary Hall said, "We recognised that the NHBF name is a barrier for beauty salons, yet we know that our beauty salon members value the free business support included in membership.  So the obvious solution was to establish a sister trade association which builds on the NHBF heritage, but easily recognisable within the beauty sector.  The new NHBF clearly shows that high quality, specialist support is available to beauty salons too, but tailored for the unique challenges of running a beauty business.”

The NHBF's beauty ambassador

The NHBF is delighted to announce that Hellen Ward, MD of Richard Ward Hair and Metrospa will be the NHBF's first beauty ambassador.  As Vice President of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs, an outstandingly successful businesswoman herself and a regular columnist in the beauty trade press, Hellen said, "I have always hugely admired the important work the NHBF does.  It's fantastic news that the NHBF will be providing the same valuable support for beauty salons, taking the stress out of running a hair or beauty business, and saving salon owners a huge amount of time and money."

NHBF member benefits

NHBF member benefits include a free round the clock helpline on employing and managing people, free employment contracts and staff handbooks, agreements for salons renting space to self-employed therapists, advice on all aspects of running a beauty salon business from regular updates on employment law changes, National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage, handling complaints, wages, prices and profits, GDPR, managing absence, the new beauty Trailblazer apprenticeships and funding.

Beauty salon health and safety toolkit

The NHBF is also delighted to announce today that its comprehensive beauty salon health and safety toolkit has been nationally recognised under the Primary Authority scheme.  This means that all local authorities, the bodies responsible for health and safety inspection, recognise the NHBF toolkit which is also backed up by a free health and safety helpline.
